Description
This haunting and evocative painting, titled Les Bas Rayés (Striped Stockings), is an exceptional example of Hans Bellmer’s surrealist and provocative exploration of the human form. The work features a distorted female figure, emblematic of Bellmer’s fascination with fragmented and manipulated bodies, evoking both sensuality and discomfort. The use of bold, striped stockings on the figure highlights Bellmer’s intricate attention to detail and his ability to blend eroticism with surrealism in a manner that challenges traditional perspectives of beauty and femininity.
